Having established 3 solid ideas, I took them to our group seminars to get feedback on each.

Idea 1

To be honest as I was talking about this idea I knew it wasn’t the one. I basically boring myself while talking about is – not that it isn’t an interesting and important issue, but the way I could see the project playing out wasn’t going to keep me interested. I think service design would be hard to do at this point in uni due to the scope of a final project. Additionally the size and complexity of the issue would be difficult for a company to solve, let alone me in uni.

The rest of the group seemed to agree with my feeling about it, so I’m happy to rule this out. Good idea, but to big and complex for a 9 month project with uni resources.

Idea 2

I think I got the feedback I was expecting on this one – that it’s an interesting idea but is possibly too idealistic, and the deliverable isn’t concrete enough. This was probably the one we talked about the most in the group, as it was the one I was most excited about doing, but I can also see it being a tricky one. The main problem is that it relies too much on user buy in, which could easily unravel the concept.

Again, a good idea, but less viable for the project.

Idea 3

My final idea was already the one I felt would be the most understandable as a project, and proved to be. We all felt it was a solid concept with a lot of room for further exploration while still having a clear deliverable. There was some discussion about whether I’d focus on the user or back end of the product, which I’m happy to explore. We also explored some further ideas about ways in which the idea could incorporate more than just city networks, and include small services like uber does.

Overall, I think I already knew this was the idea I wanted to do and was most viable. I think it was a weird thing where because this was one of my earlier ideas, I felt it wasn’t complex or unique enough, but after discussion, I’m pretty excited about. I think also it’s the one that’s guaranteed to hold my interest through out the year, which I think is a big plus.
