What I Learned from Take Off

I was really pleased with the Take Off screen but knew I wanted to have unique styles throughout the sections. To keep them cohesive though, I wanted to carry some parts through, such as;

Descent

The next section was the Descent, which I wanted to use a really long scroll for. My initial layout was far too short and didn’t last long enough, so increased it a lot. I added the landing module which was fixed position so that it moved with the scroll to make it look like it was descending with the user, which worked really well. One of the final additions to this screen was a scale along the left side to show the distance to the ground, which helped to contextualise the distance you were travelling.

At the end of this section, I would switch to a horizontal scroll so the landing module would continue into the next section.

Touchdown

This section was a similar gimmick to the last, but using a horizontal scroll. I used the extra space here to show maps and data, which made the scrolling more engaging. I really liked the final part of this section, where the user clicked on the ground to land the module, which made for a really engaging user experience.
