Before starting into desk research, I wanted to plan out what the part of the project would look like.


The Brief

I wanted to be as objective as possible for this project, so rather than just jumping into research, I revisited the outline of my selected idea first. I was now focussed on approaching this like a brief, rather than an idea I had myself. I find this type of technique works well as especially for research as it lets me be objective, and avoids just going off my assumptions.

Questions to Answer

The first step to this was mind map some initial questions I wanted to answer. This wasn’t going to be everything my research would cover, but would be a good start for direction. When doing this, I noticed that these would require different types of research, so further planning was needed.

Steps to Answering

I broke up my questions into groupings that covered what type of research each would require. Some would require multiple methods, for example to get a base understanding through desk research and further understanding through user interviews etc.
