This, and all of the user research blogs, give an overview of the process and steps taken for each part. I’ve included images taken from the FigJam boards where the majority of the work lives to illustrate the process.
If you would still like to see further details on each part, please view the FigJam board in full.
It can be found at the end of this page, or on this master page.

To kick off my user research, I wanted to create some proto-personas.
I’ve found over placement that its usually really helpful to have something to test against as a starting point, even that’s based off assumptions. I’ve found the idea of proto-personas really useful for this. These would be light, assumption based personas to guide further research.
Building upon my work of defining users at the end of my desk research, I began to add ideas and scenarios below my users to be the basis of a persona. These act as prompts and thoughts surrounding users that can be used to start user journeys and identify people to recruit for interviews.

While it’s important to keep in mind that these are based off assumptions, I find this way of working really effective and makes for more precise and valuable interviews and insights.
Full working and documentation of user research can be found in this FigJam file.

After this, I wanted to develop them into user journeys.
