Miller’s Law is a really important law for designing with a lot of content as it helps to make it manageable to the user. Users generally can only remember a max of 7-9 items at once so chunking content into manageable groups can be really useful for users. An example of this is phone numbers, where the standard pattern is country code, area code, and then phone number split into two groups of 4. Miller’s Law was something I hadn’t been aware of before but seeing it in context with phone numbers helps it make a lot of sense to me. I find it really interesting how even something like phone numbers have been designed in a way to be easily remembered and understanding this will help me consider Miller’s Law in the future.
