This, and all of the desk research blogs, give an overview of the process and steps taken for each part. I’ve included images taken from the FigJam boards where the majority of the work lives to illustrate the process.
If you would still like to see further details on each part, please view the FigJam board in full.
It can be found at the end of this page, or on this master page.

With my research planned out, the first step was to do some market research. This part of the research took place alongside preparation for the pitch presentation.
Before getting into researching the details and mechanics of my concept, I wanted to validate the feasibility of it by exploring:
I started out by roughly writing out my idea and giving it to ChatGPT to see if similar products existed. This then allowed me to break down the results and see for myself how the products it returned where similar. What I found was some similar things exists outside of the UK, and plenty of places offer a brand-able app for cities to use, but none offer users a singular experience between cities.

I next wanted to see what cities in the UK where using products like this. From what I could identify, only a handful where using a 3rd party shared platform to host their services, and even then that tended to be only for a part of their services (they use it for buses but not for trains etc).

Based on the products identified, I got ChatGPT to create a “feature matrix” to compare them all. With this, I was able to draw out some key features and differentiators that could be core to my concept.
