The Law of Proximity also falls into the “I already do it” camp, so I’ve not much to say about it. There’s some what more complexity and things you can do with this law however, especially on a desktop layout. It’s very easy to put a break in a design to show where a section stops and starts, but with more screen real estate, there’s more opportunity to lay section beside each other rather than above and below. Google does this really well on search pages, making the side panel almost completely different from the main search list. I think from looking at Googles use of the Law, it’s important to not only consider then proximity as a differentiator, but also the visual layout of each part. Again, this has helped me to consider how the laws must be used together, not just as individual tickboxes.
