As I found in my technology research, a single all-in-one smart home system for people with dementia doesn’t exist, so for my competitor analysis I wanted to explore apps and other platforms designed to make life easier for people with dementia and care givers.

Strengths

• Interface for both sides
• Dementia interface uses large simple buttons, big icons, images etc.
• Dementia interface shows only essentials, not unnecessary button or tabs.
• Simple in concept, doesn’t add on lots of unnecessary features.
• Colour on caregiver side - calm, positive.
• Recency of updates - peace of mind.
• Control over dementia persons app from caregiver sides - remote access.
• Big images and icons - helps with memory and association.

Weaknesses

• Only shows general location to caregiver.
• Relies on person always having phone on them - what if they leave it somewhere.
• Only shows location, no other monitors.
