After my mid point review, we had identified that my brand was the weaker part of my project at the moment. I wanted to spend some time to identify what was and wasn’t working, and how I could improve it.


Pitch Mentality

When I had pitched my project last semester, I had starting developing what would be my current brand. At the time I hadn’t taken the full scope of the project into account, and had maybe settled with that brand too early. I think because I had got the point I had with the brand so early that I stopped myself pushing it further or experimenting more.


Tutorial Review

I then talked to one of my tutors about my brand, explaining my aim and project, and how the brand reflected that. After some discussion we identified some strengths and weaknesses of the current brand.

The off white and black work well as an identifier, but the dark mode focus of the brand would make it hard to integrate other brands - a large part of the project.

The logo and patterns were quite fiddly and wouldn’t work well at small scales.

The motif of the lines works well but could be pushed further. At the moment the lines just run into the logo, but really could be used to show the coming together and unscrambling of different networks.

Next Steps

With these thoughts, I want to take another stab at branding. I won’t be completely restarting and some parts might carry over, but I think a fresher look could really help the project.
