Having time to reflect on my visual inspiration while exploring typographic options was really useful and allowed me to better realise the style I wanted to use. I wanted to lean away from the traditional dark monotones of space and towards the 60s/70s brighter colours, but modernised through typography and graphic elements. With this direction decided, I put together a style tile to visual my style ideas.

I was really pleased with my style tile for this project, I felt it represented the retro 60s look well but also modernised it well to fit in on digital platforms. I struggled for a while with the colours, as they kept looking too flat, but adding the grain really lifted them and helped with the retro look. The gradient aspect is new and one I want to explore further when working on this project as I think it looks really good with the grain and helps to differentiate areas. I reused some of the images from the Annual for the Titles and Illustration styles but may replace them later when I have my own versions to put in, but for now are just inspiration. Overall this has set me up really well for creating a strong visual identity on my immersive website.
